My Brothers Bagel at 751 N North Carolina 16, Denver, North Carolina.

The bagels are decent. The management however, Sucks. Daddy (Art Sr.) established the business so his sons would get off the couch and stop playing video games and so they could have a job. That's great-a family business, but they are true New Yorkers that have little to no respect for our southern ways and hospitality. The owner told me to leave today because I was working on my computer after I finished my $8 bagel and said to me "This is my office, not yours". (Apparently they had a 20 minute rush at lunch, and were short seats). I was also busy, working on my computer while finishing my coffee. There were only 2 people when I arrived, and I took a table in the back. I was there for nearly 90 minutes and it did extend into lunch. However, I didn't see anyone waiting for a table nor did anyone approach me to borrow a chair or relocate or I would have gladly done so. I honestly thought he was joking when he approached me. I felt like I was in an episode of "Seinfeld" and he was the "Bagel natzi". But seriously, in todays world of telecommuters and working from a laptop in coffee shops around the world, to be told to leave was incredibly rude and frankly a mistake. He waited until there were only 2 customers left to start his tirade, and began to break down saying "I'm struggling to stay alive here" and "you are taking up a 4 top table"...I asked how many days a week he sees me and my family in there? I said, you know I'm in here all the time...you think that I'm the problem? He replied, that was irrelevant. I told him it would be relevant because he would not see us at his business. I'm thinking-how is a regular customer the reason he is struggling?? On my way out, I attempted to have a rational conversation with one of the "brothers" (AJ-Art Jr.), because I knew they saw me in there on a regular basis, (ordering the most expensive bagel on the menu virtually every time, and never taking the "side dish" that was included in the price). However, having daddy's same short-sighted visions, and lacking any true management experience, it became painfully obvious he was not the one in charge. He said I should have stood up when they got busy... And closed with "obviously you have nothing better to do." I realize we still have limited options to eat in Denver, and this rant won't discourage most people. But I'm also a local business owner, have lived in this community for over 21 years, and strongly believe in shopping local. But these guys are douche bags, and blame their business woes on a guy who sat quietly at a table for 90 minutes, and should have taken a look in the mirror as to what the real problem may be. This may be how to do business in New York where there are so many people, that losing one good customer is no big deal and you can be assholes to customers but still survive. I don't think they will make it another year based on their current management (or lack there of) but we will see.

Fast N friendly..... Great place to stop in for a bagel. Very clean and organized Just wish they had Wi-Fi.
